Linus brings some sanity to AI world. I totally agree with his view on AI.

“Is LaTeX Worth It?,” n.d. https://philipphagenlocher.de/post/is-latex-worth-it/
Really long and detailed blog post about frustrations which come when you try to use LaTeX to anything other than scientific papers.I agree with the author that it has steep learning curve, ugly syntax, sometimes it’s hard to know what is even going on when error pops up… But!So fart there is no real alternative for academia. I tried AsciiDoc, and it does not have all the features which I need for my thesis. I think I had huuuge issues when linking bibliography correctly. There was always a problem of the format of it.I also want to mention that LaTeX is only good when your requirements are:- Long documents- Documents on which you need to work for longer period of time- Documents which you need to recreate later via complex templateIf you want to write blog posts or short presentations just stick to Markdown or AsciiDoc.If you need business people to work on your documents, and they are not really competent to work with anything other than Word… Fire them. No but for real. Just use Word. This also bring me to one very important benefit of LaTeX, AsciiDoc, Markdown. They are all version controlled. If you are a professional engineer, and you still don’t use version control in 2025 you should really consider learning it. Andif you are a business person you can also benefit from it as you will be able to read if you developers even work on stuff they say they do on daily :V
Still I think author critique on LaTeX is valid. I wish we had a better tool but there is nothing which fulfill all the needs of academia or working on complex documents. AsciiDoc is close but writing thesis in it almost never look professional. Ok that’s my few cents on LaTeX and some random blog post I read online. And yes.
